EARLY LIFE
Kiara “Kayykilo” Celestine currently resides in Houston, Texas, but was born in Baton Rouge, Louisana. Raised in Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, at age 7, KayyKilo moved to Lake Charles and also attended Washington Marion Magnet High School. She has two older sisters and two younger brothers.‎ Raised in a single parent household, Kayykilo comes from humble beginnings. At 15 years old, she worked late nights at Sonic to help fund studio needs.

KayyKilo‘s love of music and writing began in the 6th Grade, when she started writing poems and learned to play the violin. As an aspiring artist, she was influenced by the unique style, work ethic and stage presence of ground-breaking females artists such as Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, Trina, Kim, Eve and Nicki Minaj. In fact, it was Nicki that inspired KayyKilo to use her poetry to become a rapper.

In high school, KayyKilo recorded her first song – a cover of Meek Mill’s “I’m a Boss” – in her basement. Thereafter she continued to shoot freestyle videos and put them up on her YouTube channel.
At 17, she moved to Atlanta, became a fitness trainer to support herself, but continued keeping her passion for music in sight – even training Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Rico Love.

In 2019, KayyKilo moved to Houston and began recording music. Her first single, entitled “Freestyle” was dropped on Instagram. The track was so well-received, DJ Mr. Rogers and others began playing it in the hottest Houston nightclubs and her popularity grew.

In June 2019‎, she released “Handstand” and with the support of Houston’s DJ Eric, the track found itself in heavy rotation at almost every major strip club and nightclub in Houston.

KayyKilo‘s first live performance was in 2019, when she opened for BurnaBoy. Later that year, she dropped her first EP produced by BNOVA entitled “You Ain’t Heard Yet.” The first single and music video off that EP was “In My Bag.”

While being locked down in quarantine, KayyKilo promoted her EP and began working on new music with known producers such as DJCHOSE, XONOSLEEP and JUNE JAMES.

The second track she released entitled “Bend It” caught the attention of Da Baby. In October 2020, DaBaby signed her as the first female artist on his label imprint Billion Dollar Baby entertainment.
